Oh my goodness! Look what I just came across …

Pictures of a pedicure I actually really REALLY loved:

My wee little toes, freshly painted after a salon pedicure with layers of red and glitter nail polish.

I do not even remember where I had this done, it was so many years ago (2011).

It may not have been perfect (I remember a gooey peak on the edge of my left big toe / can still see it, probably where a big hex of glitter got hung up), but these colors and glossy glittery finish gave me tons of joy to look down on.

What I I do remember: this is when I learned from the nail tech that you absolutely MUST have a base coat of color underneath most of these sparkly big-glitter polishes. When I picked out the glittery Miss PIggy polish alone, she indicated through gestures etc. that I really had to ALSO select an additional, more basic, polish to actually have my nails look red. More work for her, but she knew it wouldn’t turn out how I hoped otherwise (scroll down here to see what a single coat of this looks like on its own: disappointingly sheer, to that polish blogger, but interesting to see its actual composition).

I wish I could duplicate this, making it a standard part of my ideal pedicure rotation, at least once or twice a year. For some reason it makes me feel really nostalgic, like maybe I had or coveted something in the 1980s with a similar over-the-top red glitter look. Knowing me and my love of office supplies, it was probably a 3-ring binder or something with a nice plastic-y top coat. OR PROBABLY STICKERS!

Alas, these colors were limited and have long since been discontinued: GETTIN’ MISS PIGGY WITH IT (the red glitter polish from an OPI Muppets collection), and A OUI BIT OF RED (also a limited OPI release)from their French collection). Plus I can’t even justify getting a single pedicure yearly these days without a really significant leveling-up of my financial situation.

Seeing these dreamy pictures and experiencing some of that delicious joy of having my feet and toes look so exciting does make getting there more aspirational. This juicy glittery red with bright raspberry/fuchsia/blue-pink undertones feels like walking through Disneyland on a warm Anaheim night with a Christmas-party magic-show-performance happening on my feet. I love it!
